Research and rough drafts
We started by individually researching different bridge designs.
- Braden researched the Pratt Truss, the Warren Truss, and the King Post Truss, as pictured below.
- Ella researched the Warren Truss, the Fan truss, and the Pratt truss, as pictured above.
- Landon researched the Pratt Truss, the K Truss, and the Warren Truss.
- Logan researched the Warren Truss, the King Post Truss, and the Pratt Truss, as pictured below.
- Simon researched the Scissor Truss, the Fink Truss, and the Double Howe Truss, as pictured above.
We decided to go with the Fan Truss due to its simplicity, its low amount of resources, its high amount of strength, and friendly weight distribution.
Below, you can see our rough sketch of our bridge design, with the width of each piece shown beside it.
Once these parts were done, we each worked on a different piece of the project.
